Multilateral cooperation between European regions and cities has in recent years developed into a social and economic phenomenon, to the point where it significantly affects not only the politics and economics of individual countries but also of the entire continent.

The self-government of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship, through the Marshal’s Office, performs a number of tasks, including: stimulating economic activity, raising the level of competitiveness and innovation of the voivodship’s economy, preserving the value of cultural and natural environment and maintaining spatial order. The tasks of the institution include strategic and operational planning and management of structural funds. The area of special interest of the region’s authorities is to support strategic areas of the economy, i.e. regional smart specializations: water economy, high-quality food, wood and furniture. In the structure of the Department of Promotion Coordination at the Marshal’s Office there operates Investors and Exporters’ Service Center (COIE) which provides services for domestic and foreign investors interested in starting economic activity in Warmia and Mazury. COIE helps in choosing location for an investment, generates bases of potential business partners, organizes business missions.
Over the last six editions, the European Congress of Local Governments has become one of the most important venues for meetings and discussions on local government issues across Europe. See the previous editions of the Congress.
